The College of Charleston is one of the few
schools in the Southeast and the only school in South Carolina to offer
undergraduate study with a major and a minor in Arts Management and
Administration. The College's program is uniquely situated in an
environment with an active arts community. This provides students
numerous opportunities for internships, career networking, and
participation in special projects.
Charleston is home to Spoleto Festival USA, Piccolo Spoleto, the MOJA Festival, Gibbes Museum of Art, Lowcountry Heritage Society, the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition, the Charleston Symphony, Jazz and Blues Festivals as well as many other museums, galleries, and theatre companies. The program is further enriched by frequent student contact with arts professionals through the College's artist-in-residence programs, art history lecture series, recitals, International Piano Series, and gallery exhibitions.
To broaden each student's interests and to develop career flexibility, students in the Arts Management Program are encouraged to select a double major or at least a minor in another academic program of their choice. Local artists, administrators, managers and other arts professionals augment the teaching faculty in the classroom.
